John, what's really funny is that all the "non-traditional" exercises that Maxwell takes Diego through are actually no that new, and they were used by many old time bodybuilders and strong men of old. I love the internet because I would have never "discovered" that there's really nothing new under the proverbial sun ;) Kettlebells are far from new and didn't originate in Russia; the same can be said for using sledge hammers, sandbags, anvils, etc. Oh, and I'm going to blog about how Edward Checkley showed how to do "Hindu Squats" in his book that was first published in 1910! The more I read training courses from the early 20th century, the more I realize that all these "new" training techniques are far from it.

Oh yeah, I'm definitely going to watch Fedor's fight. Honestly, I have not followed his career that closely, and I've only seen his fights with Hong Man Choi, Tim Sylvia, and Arlovski, which isn't a list of top MMA heavyweights IMO. I don't think that Brett has the ground game that Fedor has, but I really hope that he can land a couple of good right hands on Fedor to see what happens. I remember Fedor getting pretty bruised up when he fought the 7'2 giant in Dream a couple of years ago. So, I'll be watching to see what happens, but, more importantly, I think the under-card should be pretty decent. I can't wait to see the Jake Shields vs. Jason Miller fight, and I think that Mousasi is a BEAST! So, I'll be watching it with you my friend ... ;)
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('3764','Muata','John, what\'s really funny is that all the \"non-traditional\" exercises that Maxwell takes Diego through are actually no that new, and they were used by many old time bodybuilders and strong men of old.
Yep in that kind of training fighers are looking for any edge. It is kind of interesting to see all of the non-traditional strength and aligity exercises. I've see tractor tires, sledge hammers and such.

By the way are you going to watch Fedor Emelianenko v. Brett Rogers? Should be a fun fight... Fedor generally figures out how to get the W but he has some weaknesses (not that his opponents seem to find them). Brett is still the unknown as he took the championship kind of unexpectedly to me from Arlovski with a decisive knock out in the first round.

Anyway the fight is on CBS Saturday night (Nov 7).
<a href="#" class="replyto" onclick="replyto('3763','John W.
MMA fighters or 99.9% of the guys in his age range! As I mentioned in my certification report, Steve smoked EVERYONE who attended. This was my second workshop with him and at both of them, there were guys of all ages and fitness levels, and they couldn't hang with him. This guy is definitely a dynamo!
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('3760','Muata','MMA fighters or 99.9% of the guys in his age range!
