Fellas, one thing that I’ve learned on my fat loss journey is that if you want to achieve low levels of body fat, then you should listen to folks who have traveled that road before.  As I’ve said before, bodybuilders and fitness/physique models have pretty much created a blueprint for getting really lean and shredded.  I’m posting Tom’s article below not just because he’s a bodybuilder and certified personal trainer, but because he explains the “secret” of getting shredded: cycling down to your goal.  Unfortunately, this is what the general population does not understand.  You don’t start a diet and then stop it when you reach your “ideal weight”.  As Tom explains below, this is a recipe for disaster.

Oh, and this technique is not just for guys that want achieve sub-10% bodyfat levels either; whether you’re just starting your journey or getting closer to your target weight, you need to cycle your fat loss and maintenance phases.  I’m going to blog more about this whole cycling concept and how I, and most folks in the athletic community, believe to be the most intelligent way to reach your fat loss goals.  Let me know what you think about Tom’s article by leaving a comment guys.  Thanks! Well, it’s only a couple of days before you head off to a series of Christmas dinners and parties.  And, as the big guy in the room, you’re expected to do your fair share of eating.  As I’ve mentioned in a previous post, starting with Thanksgiving and lasting until after the beginning of the New Year, big guys are expected to pack away the food like there’s no tomorrow.  Basically, we are given a free license to be pigs and stuff our faces until we have to loosen up our belts a couple of notches.

So, what tips could I possibly have for you besides the usual warning that most folks gain between 5-15 pounds over the holidays?  Well, here’s three, simple, yet effective, tips to keep you from gaining weight while your Aunt Harriet insists that you have another slice of pie: (more…)

My “Candid” Interview w/ Thai Mills

Posted in: Inspiration |

Fellas, as I’ve mentioned, once my interview aired on CNN back in May, I received over 40K hits to my blog and had over 500 people email me about my fat loss story!  It was truly a hectic, and enjoyable, time for me.  Well, one person that I corresponded with had the most infectious personality that I’ve come across.

Thai Mills is the founder and owner of the site LipServiceInk.com.  She specializes in online and direct marketing, professional voice overs, and just helping folks get their brand name out there.  Although I wasn’t really looking for a professional marketer, I just couldn’t help but be drawn to Thai’s charisma and just down to earth personality. New Category for MLBF’s Blog: Childhood Obesity

Posted in: Miscellaneous |

If you guys haven’t noticed, I don’t like having a lot of categories on my blog.  Call it a pet peeve of mine, but I really hate going to blogs that have a gazillion categories, but it takes all kinds of blogs to make the internet go around …

Well, I’ve been kicking around adding a new category to for a couple of weeks now, especially after seeing the last CDC figures on childhood obesity.  OK, let me back up a second and explain where all of this started. (more…)
