CEOs of Major Diet Plans Ask for Federal Bailout?
I don’t know fellas — will this be the headline that we’ll be reading soon? With the recently published study in the New England Journal of Medicine, which you can read about here, you’d expect that we’ll be seeing this headline in all the major newspapers in the US.
This study showed that more than the nutritional composition of your diet, what matters most in weight loss is calories. So, will the diet industry be the next one asking for taxpayers to bail them out? (more…)

One thing I didn’t mention in my BW Trainer’s Certification report is that before we started, Steve named a couple of guys on the internet whom he felt confident recommending to us. One such name that came up was Ross Enamit from www.rosstraining.com. I’ve posted articles from Ross before because I think he’s a great, no-hype, no BS trainer. I also just picked up a copy of Ross’s Never Gymless, which is an excellent book on bodyweight training. (more…)

OK, picking up where I left off, we took a thirty minute lunch break. I decided to hang out with a couple of the guys who went to the Subway around the corner. I know that I don’t do well training on a stomach full of actual food, so I just downed a protein shake that I had brought.
Back at Body Tribe Gym, Steve started the second half of the certification on developing strong and sturdy legs. He discussed the importance of having good balance and flexibility, and how these are all developed through various body weight leg exercises. We started with the deck squat, which is an extremely deep squat that you keep your heels on the ground the entire time. (more…)

Sorry for the delay fellas, but my day job has started again
Anyway, it was one week ago today that I set out on my drive to Sacramento from Los Angeles. This was my first time driving up north, and only my second time venturing near the state’s capitol since I moved to southern CA more than 10 years ago.
I had already made my reservations online for the Econo Lodge in downtown Sacramento, so all I had to do is focus on the ride, which took me a total of 8 hours instead of 6 because of the traffic and rain that I kept running into on the way there. When I finally arrived at the hotel, I soon realized that you get what you pay for … (more…)

I know you guys want to know how my Maxbells Body Weight Certification Course went with Steve Maxwell this weekend. Well, it was incredible! I’m going to be posting a full report later this week, complete with a pic of me with ole’ Coach.
Anyway, I’ve been wanting to post this article by Charles Staley for a while now because I like the approach he’s believes trainers should take with beginners/deconditioned clients. After training this weekend at Body Tribe Gym in Sacramento, I knew I had to post this article. (more…)
