Are You Afraid of Food?
I can remember walking in the grocery store in Ensenada, Mexico with my ex-wife’s family when I was introduced to one of the differences between how US and Mexican markets are set-up. There it was, a carb-lover’s paradise — a section of freshly baked breads, donuts, cookies, still on their warm bake sheet pans.
There were usually one or two attendants making sure that everything was kept fresh. This is when I literally went nuts for a ginger bread cookie shaped like a pig called cochinitos, or little pigs. Man, I was so hooked on these little pigs that it became known in her family. So, no matter which aunt or uncle we visited, they made sure to have at least a half dozen of these cookies in a nice white bag for me. (more…)
Just Start By Consuming Less Guys!
Since CNN has been nice enough to continue to spotlight my fat loss story through their Accent Health Channel, which is shown in doctors’ offices and hospital waiting rooms all over the country, I’ve been receiving more email from folks who want to know where to start. While I have a post, that needs to be revised, that addresses many of the common questions emailed to me daily, I wanted to do a recent post about what I consider to be the very first step that anyone (man or woman) needs to take to jump start their fat loss journey.
Now, I realize that what I’m going to say may go against conventional fat loss and health wisdom, but I really don’t care anymore. More than 2/3rds of our country is classified as overweight or obese, and there doesn’t appear to be any let up in sight. It seems as if a new diet book comes out every other week, so folks are just grasping at straws trying to figure out what which diet plan works the best. (more…)
“Why I Hate Fat People …” by Israel Lagares
I have a few blogger buddies that I stay in contact with. One thing I would say that my “buddies” have in common is that they don’t mind exposing their ups and downs of their fat loss journeys. Well, this week Israel from www.fatmanunleashed.com wrote a post that instantly hit home for me. I wanted to re-post it here to get your opinions about what Israel shares. Click here to read the original post and I look forward to your comments … (more…)
Life Comes At You Fast …
Even the best designed programs can’t account for the twists and turns that life throws you at times. This past Thursday, my wife and I just got the keys to our new casita! We’ve been looking for a couple of months because we needed more room, and this house pretty much fell into our laps.
So, now we are in the process of moving since we have to be out of our place by the end of this month!

Coach Sommer’s Student is the 2009 US Jr. National Champion!
Hey guys, I just received an email from Coach Sommer about one of his students becoming the 2009 US Jr. National Champion!
I’ve spotlighted Coach Sommer’s book Building the Gymnastic Body before, so this only adds to the fact that this guy knows a thing or two about his trade.
I’m really happy for Coach Sommer and now I regret letting Steve Maxwell “borrow” my copy of Sommer’s book. I’m going to be ordering another copy ASAP, so that I can do a full review that’s long overdue . . .
One last thing guys, the next couple of weeks are going to be hectic for me as my college’s semester is slowly winding down. So, be patient if I’m a little slower than usual answering emails or comments. Thanks
What if …
What if I told you that I lost my fat by taking a certain pill,
would you go out and try it?
What if I told you that I lost my fat because I read a certain author’s book,
would you read it cover to cover?
What if I told you that I lost my fat because I used a certain fitness tool,
would you rush to order it?
Well, to those honest big guys who answered YES to each one of my questions, I have one more for you:
*What if I told you that I lost my fat because I stopped thinking that I couldn’t consistently continue on my journey,
would you start to believe in yourself too?
(*Updated 5/11/09 – I changed the last line of this post because the original one totally contradicted a previous post I made about the myth of willpower …
. Anyway, I’m far from perfect (LOL) and this is why I changed the last line, which originally read: What if I told you that I lost my fat because I stopped thinking I didn’t have the willpower to continue on my journey.)
