The Little Bear In My Backyard
As I type this post, I’m really kinda pissed! You see, I have this homemade 150# sandbag that I affectionately call Mi Osito (my little bear). The problem is that every time I take out the trash, he taunts and laughs at me. (more…)
Are You Training or Working Out?
One lesson that I had to re-learn this summer is that the overall goal of our journey fellas is to ultimately be stronger than we currently are. Or, strive to be a little bit better tomorrow than we are today.
When you have a lot of fat to lose, it’s hard to focus on anything but trying to burn more or eat less calories. Please don’t fall into this trap and try and race to get down to your ideal weight.
This is a recipe for you having the body you don’t want–trust me. Going down to 177 pounds with very little muscle definition didn’t resemble the person I thought I’d look like when I was under 180 pounds! (more…)

How can I say this? Easily, often, without hesitation, and with supreme confidence. (more…)

- Why Exercise Won’t Make You Thin: Two Rebuttals!
OK fellas, I have a confession. The Time magazine article had many parts to it that I didn’t agree with; however, I really didn’t have the time to go through each point.
So, I figure that I’d let you guys to read it without being prejudiced by my opinion(s). Then, I would post the major problems in logic and reason that I found in the article, but, with the wonders of the internet, I didn’t have to

Fellas, I was surfing the net when I came across this article at Times.com by John McCloud, “Why Exercise Won’t Make You Thin“.
I have to admit that I initially skimmed over the article with a very cynical eye because of the title; however, after giving it a second read, I found that there were actually more points that I actually agreed with Mr. McCloud than I disagreed. (more…)
KB Training After A One Year Lay-off
OK, so after posting one of my training videos doing KB swings with my 35# kettlebell, I sent my mentor, Steve Maxwell a link. I asked him to please critique my form and let me know what I need to work on.
The KB swing is a great exercise; however, if you don’t use proper form, your lower back will let you know right away. Fortunately, my form was spot on, but Steve did mention that I should be using a heavier bell (at least a 52#).
I knew that he was right, but I was really reluctant to get my 52# KB from my buddy because I’ve over-trained with them (i.e., heavier KBs) in the past and wasn’t sure if I was disciplined enough to use them properly. (more…)
