You guys already know that I really like the training articles that Charles Staley puts out. Well, he just sent out one of his more controversial two-part articles a week or so ago.
I didn’t get a chance to read it when it was originally written; nevertheless, I’m glad that he re-published it.
What stood out the most to me in the article is what Angela Bassett’s trainer had to say about her jaw dropping physique when she played Tina Tuner in the film What’s Love Gotta Do With It.

Why You Must Fail to Succeed

“I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed.” – Michael Jordan
I’ve always loved this quote by Jordan because it comes from a person that we rarely associate with failure. Many consider him the greatest to have every laced up a pair of b-ball shoes, but rarely does anyone think of Jordan as a failure. (more…)
11 Rules for Being Human
I know that various versions of this have been floating around the internet. I’ve seen one with as many as 14 rules; nevertheless, I thought that 11 was more than enough.
Fellas, I’m posting this because you can relate these rules to any aspect of your life, be it fat loss, getting stronger, or being a better father or husband.
Read through the 11 rules and let me know what you think …. (more…)
You ARE Stronger Than You Think!
Guys, as I type this post, I can’t begin to tell you how pumped up I am.
No, I didn’t just finish training or anything like that, but I’m pumped because I’ve already completed one of my goals for 2010, and it was far from expected.
Let me explain; I ordered a muscle building course from Bill Hinbern’s outstanding site, Super Strength Training, that was written in 1915 by Henry Higgins. I’m not going to talk much about Higgin’s course in this post because I have a two- or three-parter coming up about my 6 week Higgins Strength Project or HSP.
Today, I wanted to show you what daily “practice” with a progressively heavier dumbbell is able to do for you. (more…)

I literally cringe whenever I see an obese guy doing some sort of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)!
But, with reality “weight” loss TV shows, it’s hard not to see these guys running on treadmills at an all out sprint, or being asked to physically exert themselves until they puke.
Hell, I had one fellow blogger literally force himself to do 100 burpees, but for what?
Does doing HIIT really lead to much more fat loss than let’s say hiking with a weighted vest? (more…)
