Fit Nation Solution Summit 2008 Videos

Posted in: Inspiration |

OK, I was finally able to embed these videos into this post with the help of a fellow blogger–thanks John!

I’ll comment on the interviews and what each “celeb” had to say about developing a fit nation in the third and final part of my report, which I should release by the end of the week.  Be on the look out for part II by mid-week because I have a very special woman that I’m going to highlight!

Wow Muata! These women had some good points! I had not ever seen Jillian Michaels because I don’t like reality TV and I have not watched a cooking show since the Galloping Gourmet (So I have not see Rachael Ray either).

I liked that Michaels mentioned that everyone starting out feels like everyone is looking. That is probably why lots of folk do not really start.

I like Ray espoused eating real whole (not processed) foods to stay healthy. One of the healthiest times of my life was when my former step-son had to learn how to eat healthier. I cooked lots of veggies with lean meats and did not worry about the calories so much (not much in veggies) and my stepson was able to maintain better (no processed sugar) and I was strong (my car had broken down, and I was too poor to fix it – ended up riding my bike to work).

Both guests had very positive views that I enjoyed viewing (as well as are very motivating).

    Thanks,

    John W. Zimmer

@John W. Zimmer – John, thanks for the help embedding these vids and for leaving a comment. Yes, Jillian and Rachel were both very upbeat and positive during their interview. I’ll be the first to say that Rachel Ray’s energy really draws you in …

I like Jillian Michaels, but it’s not always “falling off the wagon” that leads to weight gain. I’ve known several people, including myself, who have lost a lot of weight and gained a little back. It may just be an evolution in the process for some people.

As for Rachael Ray, I like her, too. Her point about “fat-free” foods being a bad idea was good as well as people not being able to afford vegetables. But when she started talking about the “no-carb trend,” she talked about lean this and low-fat that and lumped butter with hydrogenated fats–they are NOT the same. I can appreciate that she said you don’t have to necessarily count the calories, but it’s when you are satisfied enough with the foods you eat.

@Jimmy Moore – Jimmy, I hear you. And, to be honest with you, I don’t believe that there is a wagon for us to get on or fall off. We really need to stop saying this because it’s simply not true. If a person cycles their “diet” and eats below their maintenance amount of kcals for no more than 6-8 weeks at a time before giving their body a week or two break of eating calories at maintenance, then there’s no falling off or getting on the wagon. It’s a matter of staying the course before you take a required break or not. Most folks who’ve regained some of their lost weight usually don’t approach their fat loss in this way. Hence the gains of 30 or more pounds.

Rachel is a cutie, but I’ll address her stance on not counting calories in the third part of my report. Thanks for leaving a comment Jimmy and I hope all is well with you and your lovely wife …
