The 650 lb. Virgin – David Smith (Video Update)

Posted in: Inspiration |

Hey fellas!  After getting a couple of emails, I decided to hunt down some videos of David’s incredible fat loss story.  I found these on youtube and thought you’d enjoy  them . . .

(I couldn’t embed these two videos, but they are worth watching!)

That YouTube “Before” video is certainly a shocker! And I’ve already seen the entire “650 LB. VIRGIN” documentary on TLC! (They may repeat it this weekend, so people might want to check their local cable schedules for it.) It is such a powerful and inspirational story. Thank you for making people more aware of it, just in case they’d never heard of David Smith before. He certainly makes me feel like my own upcoming efforts to drop over 100 lbs. will be really easy.

Your more than welcome Sam, but let me be honest with you. As someone who has lost more than 100 pounds, let me tell you that it’s not easy! The process is simple, but far from really easy. I’m not trying to bring you down before you start your journey; however, I want you to be honest with yourself about the journey you are going to undertake. Even though it is not easy, it’s also far from impossible. You can most certainly do it! Just come back and keep us posted of your progress … Thanks for your comment.

Sorry ’bout that – I didn’t mean to imply that I thought this would be “easy.” I have lost as much as 77 lbs. in the past and if it were all THAT easy, I would’ve kept it off. But there’s no way I could look at David and not think: “There but for the grace of God…” My back history is nowhere near as traumatic as this poor guy’s was, and I never made it into that “Point Of No Return Zone” he went into with his weight (but not for lack of trying, LOL.) At my heaviest at one point, I was just a whisper past 415, but managed to pull back before things REALLY got bad. I’m hoping his – and your – stories will be part of the way in which I find that extra “something” that will help me do it again.

Sam, the take home message IMO from both my story and David’s story is that we simply were/are consistent. No one is superman, regardless of what they tell you. Many times the difference between the guy that keeps the fat off and the one who re-gains it is simply a matter of which one is more consistent. Not, who has the most willpower or better genetics … Hang in there Sam and please keep us posted of your progress.

What happened with the spare skin on your neck?
Do you have any incisions? Could i please see them?

Hard believer, are these questions for David or me? If you’re directing these questions to David, then go and check out his blog here. If you were asking me, let me know so I can answer them for you …

Thanks … I had the Lasiks eye surgery back in 2002, and I love not having to wear glasses … just sunshades ;)

I am in awe of what a great job you have done in getting your body back as well as your health, it gives me inspiration as I continue on my journey to better eating, health and something I’ve never had: balance. I am finding that unless I do the total package I’m coming up short. Thank you for inspiring me, again!
