MrLowBodyFat Exposed …

Posted in: Inspiration,Training |

Ok guys, I’ve received many emails about how I’m looking nowadays.  I thought that my periodic posting of pics to FB would be enough, but that’s OK because I know why you guys keep asking for pictures.

In this day of internet scam artists and photoshop, you don’t know who’s real or a phony!  Also, and  let’s be honest, you want to know if I have kept the fat off or did I join the rest of the “re-gain 30 pounds and think that’s OK crew”.  ;)

Well, with Israel’s challenge (which I have a video response for), it made me decide that there’s no better time to start releasing video on my blog.  So, without further ado, I present my first video recorded using my new flip video camcorder ….

OK, now on to the challenge.  Since Israel posted his challenge video on his blog, I thought that I’d answer it.  But, before I show you that video, I want you to check out where I train and some of the tools I use.  The two videos after this one is for my friend Israel  8-)

OK, just one more I promise. I’m not going to post the video of me training with a 90# sandbag here, but feel free to check out this two-part video on youtube by clicking here. But, my wife thought that I should take off my shirt because my muscles looked more pumped … LOL.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the “fat jiggles” dance ….

Muata – what chin up bar is that, and where’d you get it? It looks nice and sturdy.

I’m using one that hooks over the doorframe, nice, allowing a neutral grip, but I probably wouldn’t want to hook rings or straps to it, and I can’t extend my legs (or hook on added weight to my pullups) with it.

Hey Peter! Here’s a link to where I picked up the pullup station; however, I only paid maybe $150 for it. They didn’t offer the ipod with it back then–I can’t believe it costs so much! Anyway, I removed the dip station because the grips were to wide for me and hurt my shoulders. Also, it’s sturdy if you are doing chinups/pullups, but when I do BW rows with my rings, I have to load it down with everything (sandbag, KBs, dumbbells, weighted vest …) to keep it from tilting. It’s a pain in the ass because I get a workout loading it down before I actually do my rows …. :(

Ah. Just saw the weight vest…that’s an option for even the doorframe chinup systems.

Please go and pick one up from Walmart or Target. They’re really affordable and, surprisingly, durable. It’s great for your doorframe system because before I moved, I used it with my doorgym.

I’m 56 years old. My doctor told me a few months ago that my skin is too old to tighten up once I finish getting rid of the fat. How depressing.

    Muata Reply:

Larry, what you’re doctor said is true, BUT no one really knows how much your skin is going to come back. Will it be as tight or taunt as it was when you were 10? Of course not, but it can (and will) look better than what you think right now. Take your time and lose the rest slowly to give you skin a chance to catch up. Now, if you have lost a tremendous amount of weight like David (aka the 650 pound Virgin), then that’s a different story … Hang in there my friend and thanks for leaving a comment.

Larry: I’d like to back up Muata on this. There’s always plenty of people out there who are ready to tell you why you can’t do something. I’m 46 and I can’t even tell you how many times I heard “you’re too old to do this or too old to do that” since I turned 40 (just like many of us)! The truth is we don’t know our limits.

About 4 years ago my doctor took my blood test and said I had somewhat “high cholesterol levels”. He put me on some pills and told me to come back in a month. When I did, he took another test and then I suddenly found out that he had expected me to stay on those pills pretty much forever because he didn’t think that diet and exercise could have a significant impact on your cholesterol level (apparently he thought it was mostly hereditary). This is when I said: I don’t think so! I asked for the printout of both test results (they were’nt all that bad, by the way) and walked away. I decided that if I were to die they would find me dead in the gym with dumbbells in my hands! So don’t let them sideline you! Keep on going!

I respect doctors and all the training that they endure to become one. I have a couple of college buddies who are doctors now; however, I don’t think that they should be viewed as the final authority on health. When folks seek a second opinion, they should consider other options in addition to what their doctor is telling them. Vlad, you decided to take your health into your own hands, like so many of us have, and look at the results. It’s a matter of personal choice in my opinion …

    Muata,

I’m having deja vu. The loose skin dance is something I do almost every morning to remind myself of what I need to work on. It’s the last leg of my life long battle with obesity. This shit is so hard to get rid of, but we keep on!

    Muata Reply:

Hi Nikita. No, it’s not the loose skin dance … it’s the fat jiggle dance! Loose skin, with very little to no fat under it, simply wrinkles like a shar pei. It only dances when there’s still fat underneath it …. LOL! The last leg is the HARDEST hands down because it’s a delicate dance between losing fat and muscle mass. Keep at it Nikita, and soon we’ll both be showing off our shar pei like loose skin as a badge of honor! Nevertheless, keep dancing ;)

Ah, someone that finally took off their shirt like me. good stuff man. You have come such a long way. My fat jiggles dance will be waaay better than yours! That’s one challenge I can win hands down.

    Muata Reply:

That’s right Is. All smack talking aside, I truly respect the fact that you’re not afraid to take your shirt off and show folks how you are progressing. Many guys hide behind t-shirt or those tight fitting “under armour” style shirts; hell, I know that I used to. It’s about being honest with yourself (first) and to your readers. Keep it up bro.

Oh, and I’m not so sure about you beating me out on the “fat jiggle dance”, I didn’t do my Chubby Checkers twist … lol! Thanks for getting me to finally post a video Is …

    Hey Muata,

Love the videos… it is kind of funny but that devils wheel you have is what my stat professor used to have us do for extra credit (we needed it). He looked to be 85 and had not problem stretching all the way out. Put all of us younins to shame!

I’ve been holding back on the before pics because I didn’t want to scare anyone… maybe I’ll have to post them because I am realizing people want the real deal.

Did I say great videos! :)

Man, ab wheels, even the inexpensive kind like the one I have, are tough. My mom had a boyfriend when I was around 16 who could roll out and back with no problem. When I told him it looked easy, he laughed even harder when I feel flat on my face! Thanks for the compliments John and please feel free to post your before pics. Look, if a 650 pound guy is willing to go bare-chested for the camera, I know you can too … ;)

    Muata Reply:

Anoop, it will but it just takes time. I’ve tried to rush it on more than once occassion, only to lose more lean mass than the stubborn fat. So, I’m really taking my time and approaching this in a more methodical manner.

Hi Muata. I have been following your blog & the anti Jared religiously since I started my fat loss journey. From 462 in April to 383 as of today (7/26). My target weight is 230 as I am pretty tall. How long did it take you from when you hit your target weight till when you hit < %15 body fat. Is there anything to measure BMI at home other than calipers? Keep up the great job, your an inspiration.

    Muata Reply:

Vic, thanks a lot for your compliments! My initial goal weight was simply to lose 100 pounds! I weighed 310 @ 44% bf at the beginning of my journey, and when I reached my first goal of losing 100 pounds in 2006. Once I dropped under 200 pounds, that same year, my body fat was around 15%. When I was between 175-180, I was sub 10%. I started using body calipers once I was under 200 pounds. If you’re more than 15%, I would track the inches you are losing around your neck, chest, navel, hips, and thigh. Congrats on your fat loss so far, and enjoy the ride Vic…
