Mastering Your Body’s Weight

Posted in: Inspiration,Training |

As I get older, the more and more I think about my health and fitness goals.  You guys already know that I’m a big fan of doing bodyweight exercises (BWEs).

So, I’m sure it comes as no surprise that one of my goals is to master my own body’s weight.  I’ll start slowly with making 2010 the year that I do my first muscle up.

I know that it will take me several years to achieve this goal, but I’m a patient middle-aged man ;)   And, I now fully understand how the concept of progressive overload works.

Anyway, here are two videos I found on youtube that highlight what can be done when you master your body’s weight.

Enjoy …

Chinese training methods for hardening and strengthening the body are legendary. I love watching the Shaolin fighting monks perform, it’s amazing what they can do. These guys have mastered their bodies in a way very few people ever will…it’s awesome. I’ll look forward to watching the videos of your own feats of strength!

Thanks for your comments KevinD, and I look forward to the years of practice that it’ll take for me to make those vids … ;)

Oh yeah, Hannibal is AWESOME! I blogged about him not too long ago:

Ahh, cool…I just found his stuff and I’m thinking about getting his DVD too, just for sheer inspirational value. I don’t think at this late age in my life I will ever be able to do anything like this, but it remains to be seen what I will be able to accomplish. You have to aim high, right? :)

More than likely I’ll pick up his DVD to be inspired for what the human body can do. Hey, you may not be able to match Hannibal’s move for move, but you’d be surprised what you can accomplish through years of dedicated practice my friend ;)

    Awesome stuff, no doubt.

But keep in mind, that’s a lifetime of practice you’re watching…

Good point Peter, and you’re right! None of the guys that we see on youtube doing these incredible bodyweight feats started last year. These guys have been “consistently” practicing and progressing for several years …

I know that’s right Kai, and that’s why I keep posting them. Seeing vids like this pump me up and teach me the power of consistently training in a progressive manner for many years.
